Eligibility for Early Release of Super for Dental

To be eligible for compassionate release of super for dental purposes, you must meet the following conditions as outlined by the Australian Tax Office (ATO):

Condition 1*

You fulfil the eligibility requirements for the compassionate ground you are applying for. In the context of dental, the specific eligibility criteria fall under Medical (treatment or transport).

Medical treatment – To qualify, two sub-conditions must be met:

  • *Sub Condition 1 – You or your dependant require medical treatment for a life-threatening illness or injury, or to alleviate acute or chronic pain OR acute or chronic mental illness.
  • *Sub Condition 2 – The medical treatment you (or your dependant) need is not readily available through the public health system.

Condition 2

The expense has not been paid yet. The ATO can approve compassionate release of super only for unpaid expenses. If you have already paid the expense using a loan, credit card, or other means, you will not meet the eligibility requirements.

Condition 3

You are unable to afford part or all of the expense without accessing your super. This means you cannot cover the expense through loans, savings, or selling shares/investments/assets.

Condition 4

You are currently or have been a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand.

Condition 5*

You provide all the necessary supporting clinical evidence and financial evidence. Failure to include all required supporting evidence in your application may cause delays or result in a rejection.

Please ensure that you meet all the conditions stated above to have a smooth and successful application for early release of super for dental treatment.

Our process for early release is straightforward and compliant with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) regulations. We provide guidance throughout the application process, ensuring that you have all the necessary clinical and financial evidence to validate your request.

Our experienced team of specialists, including Prosthodontist Dr. Fatemeh, will provide the required medical reports, treatment plan, and financial quote, simplifying the paperwork and liaising with the ATO on your behalf.

While early release superannuation can be an option, we encourage you to explore all available payment options for your dental treatment. Our caring team is here to discuss your implant options, tailoring the treatment to your needs and providing a free, no-obligation dental implant consultation.

Your health and financial future are our utmost concern, and we are dedicated to guiding you towards the best decision for your individual circumstances. Together, let’s pave the way to a healthier and more fulfilling future.

Considering Accessing Your Super for Dental Work?

The decision lies in your hands, and Early Release Superannuation is just one avenue available to patients seeking major dental treatment. While qualifying for early release may be possible, we urge you to thoroughly explore ALL dental payment options before making a decision.

It’s essential to understand that superannuation funds are primarily designed for retirement savings. Withdrawing your super early can impact your financial future, leaving you with less money to support yourself in the long run. While immediate concerns about financial difficulties and medical conditions are valid, it’s crucial to consider the implications for your future as well.

We strongly advise discussing your treatment plan with your Health Insurance provider, family, and/or trusted financial advisor to gain valuable insights and make an informed choice that aligns with your overall financial and health goals.
